Dr. Alexander K. Nussbaum
Head of Scientific & Medical Affairs
Philip Morris Germany
Dr. Alexander Nussbaum studied biochemistry in Tübingen and the USA. He spent ten years researching immunology at academic institutes in Germany, the USA, and France, including vaccines against viral infections and tumors. He also gave lectures on "Vaccines against cancer", in which he recommended to stop smoking to avoid home-made causes of cancer.
After more than eight years in the pharmaceutical industry, among others in the fields of autoimmunity and oncology, Dr. Nussbaum has headed the newly created Scientific & Medical Affairs division at Philip Morris Germany since December 2016. There he will be in contact with interlocutors from medicine, science, and the media, among others, to Tobacco Harm Reduction and the scientific study program of Philip Morris International.
He believes that novel, potentially risk-reduced products represent a historic opportunity for the prevention of smoking-related diseases and therefore have great potential for public health.
